Maintaining Block Paving for a Beautiful Patio Area.
To keep your patio looking beautiful for as long as possible, your block paving needs to be looked after, and although considered low maintenance, it won’t look after itself.- Weeds – if left unchecked, weeds can grow in between your block paving which can impact its longevity. Pull weeds out or use a weed spray product periodically to kill them at the root.
- Jet Washing – very useful for removing loose dirt and stones, however, you should angle the jet washer at 45 degrees to avoid dislodging the sand in between the blocks.
- Brushing – before cleaning, give your driveway a dry brush all over to help remove loose dirt and stop it from turning into mud.
- Cleaners – soap and water will remove most stains from block paving but if you want to use something specifically targeted, make sure to check the ingredients to ensure it’s suitable for limestone and marble. After using, it’s important to check the integrity of the joints, and re-sand or re-point any damage.
- Staining – for light oil stains, washing up liquid would be sufficient but for heavy oil staining, specialist oil remover products are needed to remove stains from block paving.
